Fundamentals of setting up an ultrasound machine, basic approaches to assessing qualitative and quantitative parameters in ultrasound of peripheral nerves, examination algorithm at different levels of damage to the nerves of the hands. Guidelines for each level in adults and children.
2. Median nerve
Study of the median nerve - the main levels - the level of the carpal canal, the middle third of the forearm, the area of the circular pronator, the assessment of the anterior interosseous nerve (algorithm), the level of the elbow bend, the level of the shoulder. Visualization, possible compression levels.
3. Ulnar nerve
Study of the ulnar nerve - the main levels - Guyon's canal, middle third of the forearm, the area of the cubital canal, shoulder level.
4. Лучевой нерв
Study of the radial nerve - the main levels - the spiral canal, the level of the armpit, the level of the elbow bend, bifurcation to the terminal branches - the dorsal interosseous nerve. Superficial branch of the radial nerve.
5. Musculocutaneous nerve
Visualization, methods of assessment at the level of the upper third of the shoulder.
6. Axillary nerve
Visualization, methods of assessment at the level of the armpit.
7. Algorithm for the study of the brachial plexus
Evaluation of the spinal nerves - C5, C6, C7 at the level of the transverse processes of the vertebrae, the upper and middle trunks of the brachial plexus at the level of the interstellar space. Suprascapular nerve - visualization. Assessment of the brachial plexus at the level of the first rib, assessment of the lower trunk of the brachial plexus. Visualization of the Roos ligament, additional cervical rib, muscle abnormalities. Visualization of the subclavian brachial plexus - the level of the pectoralis minor tendon. Axillary level - bifurcation to the terminal branches.
8. Positional stress tests in the study of the brachial plexus
Assessment of compression in the interscale space - Adson stress test. Assessment of compression at the level of the pectoralis minor tendon - Wright's test. Manual compression test of the brachial plexus. Execution technique, assessment methods.
